If we start with the elegance and beauty of the architecture, the only thing that hits the mind is the Glorified ~ “ Sadiq Garh Palace Bahawalpur “.  When you first look at the palace, it seems a fairy is dressed in white clothes and lies in the heart of Majestic Cholistan.

Sadiq Garh Palace History

 Let us start with its brief History, it is almost 150 years old and was constructed in the year 1882 by the Great Nawab of Bahawalpur named His Highness Nawab Sadiq Khan Abbasi (IV). Expert architects and Engineers of that time were hired by the Nawab of Bahawalpur (IV) to build this white beauty. The cost estimated to build the palace was almost fifteen Lac state Rupees nearly 1.5 million. 1500 laborers were hired to build the palace. It took almost ten years to make it finalize. It was inaugurated with all the full state protocols and in the presence of all courts by Wothy Nawab Himself.

The palace is situated in Dera Nawab Sahib, located in Ahmed pur east nearly 54 kilometers from Bahawalpur.

The palace is the four-walled Structure. when you enter the Palace, you will see the large lush Green Lawns. it seems roses are showing love to you with a warm welcome. Huge Bastons are built all around the building. The Palace starts with the beautiful dome constructed at the center of the Palace. It looks fabulous when it is gloomed with White Light. Huge verandas are built to show their majesticness. As you entered the palace, you may see the grand Drabar Hall where Nawab of Bahawalpur used to sit and perform his daily official matters. Daily state affairs were resolved in that hall. The Plank of a king is placed in the hall with a huge mirror inside. it is said that mirror was imported from London through the Karachi seaport and transported via state trucks.

Bahawalpur state has had the honor of making the Gilaf e Kaba for almost 150 years. It has been stated that Gilaf was prepared in that specific building and after changing Gilaf the pieces of used Gilaf were hanged in the Darbar Hall and important decisions were made under the shadow of the Gilaf e Kaba.

The Building has 120 rooms, and special guests were given the honor to stay at that palace. diplomats and ambassadors from all around the world come and stay at that palace. That’s why the rooms are structured with different cultures and interiors. you will see the Turkish, Egyptian, and European portions in the palace. 02 elevators were installed to move along the different stories of the building, specifically from the basement to the upper story. The elevators were operated with the water pressure technology adopted at that time. A huge library hall was also present in the palace, where it said that the nawab of Bahawalpur has collected the treasure of books from all around the world.

The palace has a powerhouse and a small cinema hall inside. Moreover, there was the garage where dozens of cars of Nawab of Bahawalpur were parked. More there are small annexes near the building. There is also the mosque inside the palace that is also worth seeing and is considered the state of art.

Family Disputes and Downfall

The buildings and personal properties were seized by the prime minister of Pakistan at that time as named Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto after receiving a personal application from State Syed al Rashd abbasi who has a dispute over the property with the son of Nawab of Bahawalpur named Muhammed khan Abbasi. after that downfall of the Palace started. People around the palace robbed the palace and took away very important and expensive items like antiques, weapons, and daily household things used by the guests and nawab of Bahawalpur from the palace. after 40 years the supreme court give the orders and the property was divided among 25 heirs of the family.
